Peyton & Gareth held a joyful summer wedding at Tankersley Manor, right here in our home village of Tankersley, South Yorkshire. Peyton and Gareth brought an infectious energy to the day, surrounded by a wonderful group of bridesmaids, groomsmen, family and friends. Against the characterful backdrop of this former manor house in the countryside near Barnsley, now a much-loved wedding venue, their celebration was full of laughter, connection and those fleeting moments that make a wedding truly theirs - beautifully captured and preserved for years to come. There wedding blended together the beautiful character of the Crook Barn and the main reception room for their wedding breakfast and celebrations. Our approach to capturing there day involved a careful mix of documentary reportage photography for moments that needed to unfold naturally and editorial photography for the moments that need gentle guidance such as family groups and dramatic portraits.

The ceremony
The beautifully intimate space in the Crook Barn, with the centrally placed window behind the ceremony table perfectly frames the ceremony. Soft lighting, fairy lights and muted tones all make this space feel warm, intimate and personal.

Peyton & Gareth made full use of the facilities on offer at Tankersley Manor. The reception room was perfectly suited for a wedding breakfast and onto an evening of dancing, drinking and celebrating with friends and family alike.
Why we love photographing at Tankersley Manor
Unlike many historic properties that are only suited to small groups, Tankersley Manor pairs its 17th-century rustic features, such as exposed stone walls and heavy oak beam, with the capacity of a modern hotel. The versatility of the space allows for intimate barn ceremonies for 40 guests as well as large-scale parties for up to 350 evening guests in the main suite.
We particularly love photography ceremonies in the Crook Barn, as it it is atmospheric and produces stunning editorial photography through the use of the natural soft lighting and exposed stone features.
The hotel’s historic stone facades, grand archways, and manicured courtyard areas offer timeless backdrops for formal family line-ups and romantic couple sessions. The contrast between the rugged, historic stone and contemporary hotel features allows a photographer to deliver a varied gallery that shifts effortlessly from dramatic, low-light barn shots to bright, modern lifestyle captures.
