Holly & Scott

Holly and Scott’s late-summer wedding brought together everything we love about photographing weddings: heartfelt moments, laughter shared with family and friends, elegant details and a celebration that unfolded naturally throughout the day.

Their marriage began with a ceremony at All Saints’ Church in Aston, before everyone made their way to Aston Hall Hotel for the wedding reception. With the hotel’s historic character and beautiful grounds providing the setting for the celebrations, there was plenty to photograph, from the smaller, easily missed moments to the portraits Holly and Scott would treasure for years to come.

The weather was typically overcast for much of the day, creating soft, flattering light. As the evening approached, the sun made a welcome appearance, giving us the opportunity to create some particularly beautiful golden-hour photographs.

Our approach was to capture the day as it happened, combining natural documentary photography with gentle direction when it helped us create something more considered. The result is a collection that reflects not only how Holly and Scott’s wedding looked, but how it felt to be there.

Getting ready

The story begins before the ceremony.

The anticipation of a wedding morning is part of the story. The finishing touches, the details chosen with care, the laughter with friends and family and those quieter moments before the celebrations begin all contribute to the memories of the day.

We photograph these moments unobtrusively, paying attention to the details and connections that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Rather than turning the morning into a series of staged photographs, we allow it to unfold naturally, creating a collection that feels genuine to the people and atmosphere around you.

The ceremony

An elegant ceremony at All Saint's Church, Aston

For Holly and Scott, the day began at All Saints’ Church in Aston, where they exchanged their vows surrounded by family and friends.

A church ceremony has its own particular atmosphere: the anticipation as guests take their seats, the moment one partner sees the other, the words that mark the beginning of married life and the reactions of the people closest to you.

Our role is to preserve these moments without taking you out of them. Working discreetly, we look for the meaningful expressions, fleeting glances and small gestures that together tell the story of your ceremony.

Afterwards, there is that wonderful moment when the formalities give way to celebration, and the newlyweds can finally relax and enjoy being together.

Drinks, confetti & candid moments

Let the day unfold.

Some of the most meaningful wedding photographs happen between the main events.

The embraces, the laughter, the conversations that bring old friends together and the spontaneous moments that nobody planned are often the photographs that become more precious with time.

Following the ceremony, Holly and Scott’s celebrations continued at Aston Hall Hotel, where friends and family came together to share in their happiness.

Our documentary approach means we are always looking for these moments without unnecessarily interrupting them. We want you to be present in your wedding day, enjoying the people around you, with the confidence that the story is being captured as it unfolds.

Wedding portraits at Aston Hall Hotel

Beautiful photographs, without spending your day posing.

We believe beautiful wedding portraits should feel like a natural part of your day, not an extended photoshoot that takes you away from your guests.

Aston Hall offers a lovely setting for portraits, with the character of its historic manor house and the space and greenery of its surrounding grounds providing a variety of backdrops.

For Holly and Scott, the changing conditions added another dimension to the photographs. The soft, overcast light created a beautifully gentle look earlier in the day, before the evening sunshine gave us the chance to make the most of golden hour.

We use a relaxed combination of observation and gentle direction, helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera while creating portraits that feel considered, elegant and true to you.

The aim is a collection of photographs that looks beautiful without feeling forced, leaving you plenty of time to return to your celebration.

Dinner, speeches & into the evening

From the wedding breakfast to the dance floor.

As the celebrations continued, the focus shifted from the formal moments of the day to the stories, laughter and shared experiences that make a wedding personal.

The speeches, reactions around the room and spontaneous interactions between guests all add another layer to the story. These are the photographs that help bring the atmosphere back long after the day itself has passed.

We photograph these moments with the same unobtrusive approach, paying attention not just to the person speaking or the couple at the centre of the celebration, but also to the expressions and reactions of the people around them.

From the wedding reception through to the evening celebrations, our aim is to create a complete, considered record of your day, capturing both the moments everyone expects and the ones that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

Why we love photographing at Aston Hall Hotel

A venue with character, atmosphere and plenty of possibilities.

Aston Hall Hotel has a distinctive character that makes it a lovely setting for wedding photography. Its historic Georgian architecture brings a sense of elegance and heritage, while the surrounding gardens and open grounds offer space for more relaxed, natural photographs.

We particularly enjoy venues that give a wedding gallery variety. The manor house provides a sense of occasion, while the greenery and changing light outdoors allow us to create softer portraits that feel quite different from the photographs taken inside.

Holly and Scott’s late-August wedding was a lovely example of how the setting and the conditions can contribute to the final collection. Even with overcast skies for much of the day, the light was beautifully soft. When the sun appeared later, we were able to make the most of the golden hour and create a different mood in their portraits.

For us, the appeal of Aston Hall lies in that combination of historic character, elegant surroundings and room for a wedding day to unfold in its own way.
